So, it's day two of the new year, and I've just outlined my New Year's Resolutions. I'll admit, I cheated a smidge by stealing from Pinterest, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

I had an incredibly fun night in with my near and dear best friends that resulted in two empty bottles of Sparkling grape juice (wild, I know), a half finished box of Costco chocolate, and a 6 am bed time after raucous fits of laughter.

It was quite nice, especially because I spent a bit of time with my family first. It's the third or fourth year I haven't been with my family when the ball dropped, but eh, New Year's isn't really a family holiday anyway.

So, for the resolutions, I decided to keep things simple (they aren't so concrete, more so guidelines for everyday).

1. Travel somewhere new (even just around the corner)

2. Break a bad habit (talk about others less; their hair and clothes and boyfriend won't change your life)

3. Be kind to all I meet (even if it's just saying hi to strangers)

4. Don't take things so personally, someone's comment shouldn't have the power to break your heart

5. Take more risks (do it because you want to, don't let fear or other opinions hold you back)

There are more things I'd like to do, of course. Many are much more concrete. I want to read books every month, get all A's next semester, take a cooking class, learn a language, etc. The list goes on for days.

These are resolutions I'm going to try and stick to. I'm tired of not marking them off at the end of the year. I don't enjoy feeling as if I am just wasted potential. I've realized, though, that I can't set myself up to fall short either.

No more "learn the guitar by April" or "get fit by my birthday". Those are things I can do, but I know I won't in a timeframe like that. Although, maybe if I get past my procrastinating I'll accomplish more. Hm.

6. Procrastinate less. The world's not gonna wait for you to finish.

Anyway, all the best to you for 2014. I hope your resolutions all get big fat check marks at the end of the year.
